Read! Read! Read!
Your kids want to read. They need to read. Please help them spend time reading at
home! We try to read as much as we can in class, but our
day is really jam packed and we don’t always have interrupted reading
time. Having that time at home is an
essential part of their reading practice.
They should be reading at least 20 minutes every day. Every.
Day. They can read ANYTHING. Magazines, graphic novels, fiction,
nonfiction, recipes…anything to get them
reading. READ…not just in March. J Reading OUT LOUD to them COUNTS! Read together too! Reading to your kids is one of my favorite things EVER. Discussing the book as you read, hearing what they connect with, and hearing them audibly gasp when I read a "good" part. Such a wonderful thing to be a part of. The Ann Arbor Public Library also has an exceptional selection of books on CD.
