This is
a fantastic strategy for solving multiplication problems. When I first started teaching it to kids, I
was hesitant. It’s totally different
from the way I learned. As it turns out,
that’s a great thing. It breaks down the
problem and shows you what you are actually doing. I am sending home a cheat sheet in the
homework packet and this should stay at home (it’s on red paper). Try it yourselves too. You will be surprised at how much it makes
sense and helps kids understand the concept along with how to solve the
problem. Please take some time to
practice this strategy at home. It’s something
they will need to master and practicing the steps can only help! Thank you!
