This is one of my favorite field trips EVER.  I have been participating in 826michigan field trips for nearly a decade.  It’s an incredible organization and offers SO many amazing programs.  They have after school tutoring, field trips, camps, etc.  Please check out their website!  https://www.826michigan.org/

Our field trip is a fairly new one, and it was awesome!  Kids worked on creating a ZINE with their group, brainstorming a topic that they all agreed on.  The zine they created will come home this week, and we will continue to create zines throughout the year.  We started a new one on Thursday and I love hearing about their topics and how excited they are to research and write about them.  What’s a ZINE?  It’s a short version of a magazine and is all self published.  Kids can make them on their own, and are SOOOOO excited about writing.  826 RULES.  Ask your kids about their zine and what they are writing about in class.  I bought a stapler a few years ago that allows you to staple booklets.  It was the best $20 I ever spent.  Creating booklets inspires kids to write, draw, and share their work.  I have kids working on books during QT, and over a long period of time.  It’s a wonderful thing to see.
