Vocabulary

We have spent a lot of time working on our vocabulary skills this year.  We work with ROOT WORDS, which will help them figure out unknown words and they totally love them.  We keep track of new words when we are reading books.  Exposing kids to a wide variety of words is crucial! 

Reading helps develop their vocabularies.  We read a lot.  J  We talk about how important vocabulary will be when doing tests, but more than anything, having a high vocabulary helps us in our every day life.  The things we learn about in our classroom may be useful on a test.  But, more importantly, the things we learn are REALLY important in our every day lives.
