STEM VEGGIE HOUSES

Learning through STEM activities is an amazing part of our classroom activities.  We are learning so much about building, design, thinking outside the box, teamwork, writing, and a myriad of other things.  We brought all of this to the table when we were faced with a mound of vegetables, a cardboard base, and a roof (also made from cardboard).  The kids were creative, funny (there was a toilet in one house!), interesting, and fun to watch being created.  Bravo!  I am looking forward to even more STEM activities in 2016!  YahOOooooO!
An a-MAZE-ing STEM activity

OHhHHHHhhH how much fun it was to build a MAZE.  Using items from The Scrap Box, we created (with a partner) a maze that a marble has to pass through from one side to another.  There were only a few rules:  the marble must go OVER something, go UNDER something, and start from one side of the cardboard to the other.  These STEM activities are SO.  MUCH.  FUN.  Kids discussed their ideas with their partners before getting their materials.  Once they had some time to discuss their ideas, they illustrated their thoughts and got ready to build their maze.  They made truly a-MAZE-ing creations!  YahOOoOo!
