Biography Notes
I love reading their label responses.  I learn so much about the books they are reading and this was no exception!

This is the first page we started to fill out once we started reading our biographies.  What did you learn?

After we took notes about the books we were reading, we needed to transfer that knowledge to 3x5 cards in order to be prepared for the wax museum.  Kids had to determine what information was important enough to make it onto an index card.  Most kids memorized the information for the museum!

We have spent a lot of time working on our biography book reports.  Because they will be oral reports (at our Living Wax Museum) we have a variety of things we are doing.  While reading the book, we have learned how to take notes as we read.  What’s important?  What is truly an INTERESTING fact?  We used a variety of strategies to take notes (including several graphic organizers) and kids discuss with one another things they are learning as we read.
We have written about our person in our Reader’s Notebooks and practiced talking about them with partners.
