STEM

I love STEM activities!  They are so much fun and I LOVE watching my kids figure out the various problems that arise while doing these activities.  They are required to think outside of the box, work with one another, listen to each other, and solve a problem or problems fairly quickly.  Some teams fail.  We learn as much from our failures and we discuss WHY this is true, and what that means in other aspects of our lives.  Kids had to construct a bridge made from ONLY index cards.  They could use scissors, but otherwise, that’s all they could use to create a bridge strong enough to hold weight (pennies).  There are so many lessons learned in a fairly short amount of time and we are able to use those lessons over and over throughout our time together.  Please ask your kids what THEY learned.  Were they successful?  Why?  Why not?  How many pennies did their bridge hold?  We will do more STEM activities this year!  WoOOOT!
