Math

We started Unit 4 on Monday.  Here’s what 5th graders have started working on:  Decimal Concepts; Coordinate Grids.  In unit 4 students extend their understanding of the base-ten place-value system to include decimals.  They will do a wide variety of things during unit 4.  Including: Use familiar patterns in the place value chart to examine relationships among digits to the right of the decimal point in the tenths, hundredths, and thousandths places.  They are also introduced to the first quadrant of the coordinate grid.  Here’s what 4th graders are doing:  Multidigit Multiplication.  We will multiply multidigit numbers using extended multiplication facts and partial-products multiplication.
