King Arthur Flour
It’s not every day you get 2
pallets of flour delivered to the lobby of your school. It’s always a good sign. It means that Nate will soon visit our fair
elementary school and teach our kids about baking. He’s an energetic speaker and gets kids
excited about baking. Shantell was an
AMAZING helper and earned a cool apron for helping Nate with this presentation.
Thank you for all that YOU did at
home. I appreciate how many people made
the bread and helped us raise money for Peace Center. We were able to raise $100 selling your bread at the
Heritage Festival. Yay!
My kids had a bonus lesson. We learned how great assembly lines are. The lobby was full of what was going to be
sent home with all of our 4th and 5th graders at the end
of our presentation, and we had to get it ready for the other classes. Each student was going to take home a bag,
allowing them to make 2 loaves of bread.
Each kit contained: 2 bags of
flour, 1 packet of yeast, 1 plastic bag, 1 recipe book, and 1 dough scraper. We worked in a circle and within twenty
minutes, all 145 bags were prepared. We
discussed why it worked so well and what might have happened if I piled all of
the bag contents into the center of the room – we all agreed it would have been chaotic and it would
take a LOT longer than twenty minutes.
Henry Ford, we salute you.
Thank You Cards! We are working on our THANK YOU cards that we
will send to Nate in Oregon. As part of
the writing process, they write what they want to say (at least six sentences)
in their writer’s notebook and after checking it themselves, bring it to me for
final approval. This is an important
part of being a part of our learning community and I am a firm THANK YOU card
believer. They create GORGEOUS cards
chocked full of meaningful sentiments from their experience.
