Poetry…it’s fun stuff
We will head to 826michigan on
Friday, October 30th. This
place is amazing. If you don’t know
about it, google it! They do amazing
things with our kids and I love seeing my kids creativity shine when we
visit. We often go to do poetry. This year, we will write a story – with all of the elements that we
will learn about as our year progresses.
I. Can’t. Wait.
Last week, we read a few poems and kids illustrated at least one of
them. The Purple Po, by Douglas Florian
is a fun poem and your kids did an amazing job illustrating Florian’s
words. I LOVE walking around the room
and seeing all of their creativity pouring onto the blank pages. It’s awesome.
Oh, and if you see a sale on
purple colored pencils…we need some! J
Do you have a favorite poem from your youth? Share it!
Show your kid the kind of poetry YOU loved at their age. Reading poetry is also a great way to read at
night. Poems are often short and you can easily find a collection of poems
about a particular subject. Have fun!
