WORMS!
Betty. She’s a cute little worm, isn’t she? Kids had a great time investigating their
worms last week. A flashlight,
magnifying glass, and our scientific skills allowed us to study our worms and
write about them in our science journals.
Illustrations are a big part of our science journal too. There are very distinct parts of a worm and
the kids are able to identify these parts during this lesson. Scientists LABEL what they illustrate. Scientists use words to DESCRIBE what they
see. Scientists ask questions. Scientists can disagree with one another.
From our science journals:
Watching Worms
Carefully observe
your worm. Remember to:
Treat the worm with
care.
Limit the number of
times you handle the worms.
Keep the worm moist
at all times.
Shine a light
underneath the Petri dish containing the worm.
Are you able to see through it?
Make a detailed
drawing of your worm in the space below.
Think about what
your worm looked like and what it did.
In the space below, write down any other observations you notice about
your worm.
In the space below,
list questions that you and your group have about your worms.
