Edward Tulane

This is only chapter one and two!  They have a lot to say and are loving the book.

We started a new book last week!  It’s one of my favorite books of all time.  The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo is about a rabbit named Edward who finds himself on quite a life changing adventure.  We’ve read the first few chapters, and I encourage you to ask your kids about Edward.  Have them describe him to you.  What’s he like?  What do you know about him already?  Who is Abeline?  Who is Pellagrina?  What is the story mean that Pellagrina told Abeline and Edward before they went to sleep?  We spend a lot of time talking about the books we read.  We do this as a whole class, in reading groups, and individually too.  Digging deeper into a story, a character, or changes within the story are an important part of our reading routine.  I highly encourage you to talk about the books they are reading at school at home too.  Asking question, having them tell you things about they read, etc.
