Matilda

We love writing about our reading.  Your kids had a lot to say about this amazing book and I loved reading their responses to our latest label.  We spend a lot of time discussing the books we read as a whole group and in our smaller reading groups.  There are so many things to discuss while reading these amazing books!  We are really focusing on providing EVIDENCE when writing something.  Saying you liked something isn’t enough.  WHY did you like it?  Give me reasons!  Give me EVIDENCE!  I absolutely LOVE talking about books with your kids.  Ask them questions about Matilda!  Here are some things you can ask:

What kind of person is Matilda?

Where does this story take place?  How do you know?

Why do you think the Trunchbull is so mean and nasty?  What sort of things has she done in the book to make you not like her?

If Matilda came to Ann Arbor, what would you want her to know about Haisley and your class?
