The Haisley Garden

This is an amazing addition to our school.  Kids are learning a wide variety of skills and as the garden becomes more established, we will find more ways to utilize the garden and the crops created.  We visited the garden after our trip to market and talked about the importance of growing our own food and how amazing fresh food is.  There are obvious health benefits, but gardening offers so much more than just vegetables!  The Haisley PTO have approved the purchase of a food cart that will be used next year to cook, learn about and share what we grow in our garden.  If you are interested in helping take care of the garden this summer, let me know!  As we walked around the garden, kids asked about the various plants and many munched on greens as they wandered, sketched and wrote about the garden.  “What are chives?”, “Why did they plant flowers in with the vegetables?”, “How long will it take for these things to grow?”
Here are some things I learned:
Your kids love vegetables.
Your kids are really interested in growing things.
Your kids should visit the Farmer’s Market a lot!

Our Haisley garden is SPECTACULAR!  BRAVO!
