Poetry
Poetry Fridays. We love them.
Your kids have mad poetry skills.
We have worked on a variety of things so far this year, but mostly, it
has been about getting our thoughts down on paper. In the coming weeks, we will take a closer
look at specific types of poetry (compiling a sample and our own example). After having the opportunity to work on
poems, there is always a chance for kids to SHARE what they have worked
on. Poetry performances are a lot of
fun.
We started writing ILLITERATION
poems today. It’s fun to brainstorm a
gazillion words starting with the same sound!
They are amazing poets. Here’s a
sample of classis, albeit OLD SCHOOL alliteration…
Betty Botter by Mother Goose
Betty Botter bought some butter,
but, she said, the butter’s
bitter;
if I put it in my batter,
it will make my batter bitter,
but a bit of better butter
will make my batter better.
So she bought a bit of butter
better than her bitter butter,
and she put it in her batter
and the batter was not bitter.
So ‘twas better Betty Botter
bought a bit of better butter.
