WRITING LETTERS
Have you heard? We’ve gone OLD SCHOOL in room 306. Thank you cards and FRIENDLY LETTERS! Practicing writing takes a lot of time. As it turns out, writing to your friends is
fun. So, we get to practice our writing
AND have fun. Bonus. The art of the hand
written letter is getting lost in our digital age. Because of that, I think it’s even MORE
important for them to write these letters.
Is it easier to send an email?
Yup. Is it better? Probably not.
That doesn’t mean that writing an email isn’t a great way to communicate,
it just means it isn’t the ONLY way to do so.
Getting mail is wonderful.
Writing mail can be wonderful too.
We spent time decorating the envelopes too. Wow.
They were fantastic! A little art
goes a long way on an envelope! Yay! We are also writing THANK YOU cards to my
dentist for the toothbrushes he gave us.
All of the thank you cards that we write will be written in our Writer’s
Notebook first. Once checked, we spend
time writing our cards – including an illustration on the
front of the card (and the inside too, if desired by the illustrator!).
Start a journal. Write to your child on sticky notes. Write a letter to someone far away. It doesn’t matter how long it is, or what it
is, the act of writing is enough. And,
it’s fun! J
The EDITING PROCESS isn’t easy,
but it’s necessary to produce a spectacular piece of writing. We worked alone, with partners and produced
amazing results! Bravo!
