Poetry
This is a rhyming dictionary that can be seen around our room while they are writing.  It's a great resource and they have so much fun using it!

Once again, Poetry Friday doesn’t disappoint!  After working on their own ideas for a while, we learned about PALINDROMES by reading the book Go Hand a Salami! I’m a Lasagna Hog!.  I truly wish I could have filmed their reactions to this book.  They were hysterical.  They thought it was amazing.  And crazy.  It was so great.  We read a bunch from the book and talked about words we know work POP, MOM, DAD, etc.  Names tooHannah!  J  One student talked about numbers, and later included them in the sentences she wrote.  Such  clever kids you have!  Kids started with a sentence from the book and illustrated it.  Then moved on to creating a list of words and trying to form sentences.  It was tough!  We will work on this again, it was too much fun to only do once.  Also, I am happy to report that kids who have never shared their poetry are sharing!  It’s SO WONDERFUL!  They are all very encouraging to one another and I love that kids feel safe enough to share their work with their classmates.  YahOOoo!
