STEM – an a-MAZE-ing project!
Normally, our STEM activities ask
kids to work together in a team or partnership.
This is the only activity where they will work individually. There are three parts of this activity: 1.
Brainstorming and Planning. 2. Building
3. Reflection and illustrating
our final project.
This project is SO. MUCH.
FUN. Kids get a chance to view
all of the materials they will have available to them (thank you Scrap Box!)
and they begin to write a brainstorming list, along with a plan for their
maze. There are a few rules they must
follow. 1. Their maze must have an entrance on the
opposite side of the exit. 2. The marble must go OVER and UNDER
something.
The best part of this project, of
course, is the building. They have a TON
of material to use, but they must construct something that follows the rules
and works! It’s so fun to watch them
solve problems and use their creativity to make the mazes their own. They all look very different and show their
personalities! They came home on Friday,
so I hope you’ve had a chance to try out their mazes.
